About Us
A brief summary of our history.
A family-run place with charm and history
Rødseter is a farm that, over time, has developed into a place to stay for travellers and hikers. The place is run by André Rødseter and his family, with the help of skilled staff. The place is open during the summer months, when the weather and conditions are best for enjoying the beautiful nature. We have an in-house restaurant focused on traditional dishes made with local ingredients.
The farm has a history dating back to the 17th century. It is located in a beautiful valley in Fjærland, right next to Jostedalsbreen National Park – the largest glacier in continental Europe. The area offers great opportunities for mountain hiking and skiing, and there are great sights and attractions nearby.
The valley is surrounded by massive, steep mountains where the glacier tumbles over the edge of Fjærland. The lowland on the farm is flat and covered with green fields. The surroundings here are quiet and peaceful, with wild, breathtaking nature and good hiking opportunities, where the farm is the base and starting point for the popular trail to Flatbreen and Flatbrehytta.
At Rødseter Gjestegård Hotel, we offer our guests a stay in authentic 19th-century farmhouses. There are six rooms in total, all with private bathrooms, divided between two buildings. Both houses are newly renovated inside, in an old style with a mix of modern amenities. Several of the rooms also have a private entrance.
